James Island Real Estate News: Area Home Sales Continue to Weaken

The Charleston region home sales market continued to weaken in February, partly due to the waning consumer confidence and rising area unemployment. James Island real estate sales certainly reflect newly released area statistics. Area sales were off 43% compared to February 2008. The median sales prices dropped from $200,000 to $183,100 and inventories remain very high with 10,051 properties currently listed for sale. Many firms are noticing an uptick in buyer interest over the last month. Showing and sales contacts seem to be on the rise.
